Three levels to choose from
All ride groups are limited to a maximum of 12 cyclists per group. Larger groups are split into 2 or even 3 groups made up of riders of similar fitness levels. This policy increases the comfort and safety for all. Group rides accommodate riders of all abilities and provide a pathway for riders as their fitness, skills, and experience develop. It is the responsibility for each cyclist to know the routes and ideally have them downloaded into their bike computer.
Group ride departure times and routes will be shared with the club prior to the rides. We recommend that all members register with Strava and join the Milton Bicycle Club Strava Group.
It is important that all cyclists have their bikes in proper running order and have adequate means of making repairs on the road. Everyone must also carry identification and a cell phone in case help is needed. Helmets are also mandatory on all club rides as per the rules outlined by the OCA insurance policy.
Designed for experienced and very fit cyclists. Speeds on these ride will average 32 km/h and up, and distances will vary anywhere from 60–120km. These rides will often contain more elevation, steeper climbs, and hard efforts.
Designed for the fit cyclist looking for a spirited effort, but not quite at “race” speeds. Riders in the B group are typically looking to challenge themselves and gain fitness.
For the cyclist new to group riding and looking to learn pack riding skills such as drafting, basic pacelining, and group etiquette. Riders are typically looking to gain fitness as well.
All weekend road rides will leave from Scott Neighbourhood Park, located at 143 Scott Blvd, Milton, ON.
Ride details and start time are determined by the ride leader and will be posted to the MBC Strava group. As we get more daylight, rides in the summer will typically start earlier in the morning.
A, B & C groups will have a Saturday ride available to them to participate in. Route, distance, and start times will vary throughout the season.
Typical Sunday club rides are a combined A & B group covering longer distance with an emphasis on a friendly group ride atmosphere. The groups may split based on attendance to offer safe and comfortable pace for the group(s). Sunday C rides will be designed by the ride leader with imput from the members.
